Not an excuse to talk about Mega Man

Okay, I SWEAR I had a different topic lined up for today, but the link on Bob and George I saw today made me rethink my entry.

A descendant of sprite comics, hand drawn Mega Man comics seem to be coming out as a genre of their own, and for several good reasons. The first is the same reason why there are so many sprite comics in the first place, a large cast of widely known and seemingly defined charecters. All you need is a decent story and slight specifics on what you think the charecters are like. You have to admit it's an attractive setup. Now the reasons to switch over to drawing is...
Talon's Dictionary of Webcomic words.

Cliche (Clì-shé): When so many people steal an idea from the same guy that it becomes standard practice to steal his ideas because... everyone else does it.

Okay, now that we have a definition to work from let's talk about one of the most Cliche riddin Webcomics online, one despite that fact, or maybe because of it, we still enjoy. That's right, I'm talking about RPG World.

Half of the cliches aren't even Ian's fault. He made up jokes and funny stufff that fit in almost any action comic and half of the webtoonists on the face of the planet ended... (more)

Okay, one particular comic will describe my feelings toward Independance Day and anything that isn't Mega Man for the remainder of this week. And This is it. So bloggies might be short. Capiche? (Er, yes?)

Anyways two comics have kind of popped up on my radar recently, and both of them were linked to by Exterminus Now (a favorite of mine that presents a really cool look on a post[pre?] Sonic the Hedgehog Mobius)

The first is Consoles - no, I'm not linking to it a second time, you can go to the first link at the top of the post. Alll the game consoles are linving in a house together,... (more)

Live Action... Yeah.

So anyways, I've decided to go to a weekdays format. So watch for me M-F Don't watch for me s-S.

Right. Today's is going to be short, because 1.) I'm tired. 2.) I made a longer one and my computer crashed. (pssh, yeah right, like I'm going to do THAT again.)

So enjoy what you have.

Today we talk about live action webcomics. These tend to be a little bit like sprite comics except that they involve pictures. I'm not a serious fan of these. Honestly, if you can't even spend a couple hours modifying sprites, you have a little problem in my book.

That being said, one actually did manage... (more)

Okay, so I missed two days, and I'm about to miss three more, yup I got me a backpacking trip. My backs gonna hurt and some stuff is gonna happen, that's about all I know. Once I get back, I'm gonna start filling in holes in the archives that I left, but that's not a promise, so don't hold me to it.

Right now I'm wearing a T-shirt. It's one of my favorites, it has a Real Life Comics Strip on the back and it certifies that I'm the master of something called "Shirt-Fu" on the front. I like this shirt not only because it says that I can do awesome backflips and sweet matrix type manuevars... (more)

Comic - Crossovers

*blegh* -_-

Busy today. This is just going to be a quick one.

So, it turns out that I'm not the only person on the comic study/review thing.

Me forgetting the largest one, www.comixpedia.com, was just me being brain-dead. Man those guys do a lot of crap.

These Guys have also done some crossovers, basically they just set the two artists up and let 'em go. I really like crossovers in general because they tend to take advantage of the things you enjoy most out of both comics.

That said, it's kind of hard to find a crossover you're going to like for that very reason. You need to find... (more)

Sprite Comic-y Goodness

Okay class, get out your notebooks and No. 2 pencils, because today we're going to talk about Sprite Comics! David Anez is usually credited with the first Sprite comic (www.bobandgeorge.com), and like most new ideas, it was completely on accident. When you start reading the archives it's really obvious. The first storyline even has the Megaman charecters complaining about being place holders. What happened was that at first he didn't have access to a scanner. So he used some sprites he had on his computer as a placeholder comic. When he came to find that he wasn't even that good at drawing,... (more)

Yep, still reading MegaTokyo. The last comic it took me this long to read through was Sluggy Freelance (www.sluggy.com). And That's been going on daily since 1997! But I'm not complaining. Now, if I actually had stuff I needed to do this week, I'd be complaining.

Still, seeing as I don't have very many thoughts about MegaTokyo that I haven't shared yesterday, I thought I'd just share a few of my favorite comics for you to mull over.

I'll talk about all of these more in-depth later, but right now just take a chance to mull them over.

5-minute update!

I've been up and down this great strech of road on the information superhighway they call 'webcomics' from your standard Real Life (reallifecomics.com) to your lesser known but still funny as heck Dragon Tails. (dragon-tails.com) However there was one webcomic that nearly EVERYONE has read that I still haven't laid a single finger on, Fred Gallagher's MegaTokyo. (megatokyo.com)

So today I decided, "aw what the heck, might as well at least read the archives" So that's what I'm doing now. I'm up to 132 right now and so far it's been quite the interesting experience, from what I've gathered... (more)
